Multan Sultans had a rough patch as they lost Mohammad Rizwan and Sohaib Maqsood to a run out after they scored just 12 and 13 runs, respectively. However, Shan Masood scored 43 runs off 31 balls, while Rilee Rossouw and Tim David was able to score 67 and 71 runs off 35 a 29 balls, respectively.
Islamabad United gave it their all but could not achieve the target of 218 set by Multan Sultans. Paul Stirling and Alex Hales scored 19 and 23 runs off 10 and 14 balls, respectively, while, Rahmanullah Gurbaz added 15 runs to the total.
However, Shadab Khan scored a remarkable 91 runs off 42 balls giving the Islamabad United a fighting chance but that apparently wasn’t enough to score a victory as he did not get any backup from the team. Faheem Ashraf came in at number five and he was sent back to the pavilion for nil, while Azam Khan and Asif Ali only managed 27 runs altogether.
The rest of the batting order failed miserably against the Multan Sultans bowling, which restricted Islamabad United from achieving the 218 total set during the first innings.
