Lahore Qalandars had a rough start as Fakhar Zaman and Phil Salt were both dismissed very early in the game with a score of just 1 and 2 runs, respectively. However, Abdullah Shafique and Kamran Ghulam got the team back into the game with their partnership as both of them scored 52 and 30 runs off 28 and 26 balls.
Mohammad Hafeez also managed 28 runs, while Harry Brook was dismissed early with just a score of 2 runs. Samit Patel and Shaheen Afridi scored much needed 21 and 28 runs, respectively, which allowed the Lahore Qalandars to set a target of 169 runs for the Islamabad United.
Islamabad United also had a rocky start as Paul Stirling was dismissed early with a score of 13 runs, but Alex Hales managed to stay and score 38 runs off 29 balls. The middle batting order struggled, including Will Jacks (0), Shadab Khan (14), and Liam Dawson (12), however, Azam Khan managed to take charge and scored 40 runs off 28, which gave the Islamabad United a fighting chance to win the Eliminator and qualify to the final of the PSL 7.
Asif Ali played well and tried his best, however, he was only able to score 25 runs before being dismissed and the remaining batting order could not take the team to the finish line.
Lahore Qalandars won by runs and qualified to the PSL 7 final against Multan Sultans. It is the first time Lahore Qalandars have made it to the final and lets see if the team can take home the Champion’s title as well. The PSL 7 final will be held on 27 February 2022 in Lahore.
