Quetta Gladiators’ captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has been ruled out of today’s match against Peshawar Zalmi in the ongoing season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 8). In his place, Mohammad Nawaz will take the lead, while Bismillah Khan has been the wicketkeeper’s replacement.
Sarfaraz Ahmed has been with the Quetta Gladiators since the inaugural season and it will be the first time in PSL history that the team’s captain misses a match.
The Gladiators’ wicketkeeper suffered an injury after a blow to his left finger due to a delivery by pacer Naseem Shah in the match against Karachi Kings on Monday. According to the details, there are no fractures, but Sarfaraz Ahmed is still suffering from pain.
Sarfaraz was even unable to continue his wicketkeeping duty in the last 2.2 overs of the innings and was replaced by wicketkeeper Umar Akmal. However, as a captain, he took responsibility came out to bat during the second innings after taking pain killers and a heavily bandaged finger.
It is still uncertain whether Sarfaraz Ahmed will join back in Quetta Gladiators’ next match against Multan Sultans on 11th March.
