Islamabad United faced off against Lahore Qalandars, who won the match by 17 runs, breaking their losing streak in the ninth edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL 9).
Islamabad chose to bowl first after winning the toss and did well to limit Lahore Qalandars to 162 runs. Lahore had a shaky start, losing Sahibzada Farhan for just 2 runs and Fakhar Zaman for 10.
However, Rassie van der Dussen played a strong innings, scoring 64 runs with 4 fours and 4 sixes. Unfortunately, Lahore suffered another setback when Shai Hope got out for only 6 runs.
Shaheen Afridi contributed 30 runs from 14 balls, but Lahore kept losing wickets with Sikandar Raza dismissed for 4 runs and Ahsan Bhatti managing only 13 runs from 11 balls.
David Wiese remained unbeaten on 24 runs, but Lahore couldn’t gather enough momentum towards the end. Jahandad Khan added 2 runs to the total.
Islamabad United also faced a tough start, losing their key wickets without making much of a score. Colin Munro scored only 15 runs, while Alex Hales, Salman Ali Agha, Shadab Khan, Jordan Cox, and Imad Wasim didn’t even reach double digits.
However, Azam Khan and Faheem Ashraf played well, scoring 29 and 41 runs respectively. Naseem Shah also added 27 runs, but despite their efforts, Islamabad United couldn’t close the gap and lost by 17 runs.
