In Karachi, the second part of PSL 9 began with a match between Karachi Kings and Islamabad United, which was the 15th game of the tournament. Islamabad United won the match by 7 wickets with 9 balls left.
Islamabad United chose to bowl first after winning the toss. They did well to restrict Karachi Kings to a total of 165 runs. Karachi Kings lost an early wicket when Tim Seifert got out after scoring only 8 runs from 9 balls. Despite this setback, Shan Masood managed to score 27 runs from 30 balls, and Leus du Plooy contributed 24 runs. Shoaib Malik could only make 6 runs before being dismissed, but Kieron Pollard played a crucial innings, scoring 48 runs from just 28 balls. Towards the end, Mohammad Nawaz added 6 runs, and Irfan Khan contributed 27 runs, giving Karachi Kings a chance to defend their total.
Islamabad United had a strong start to their innings and maintained momentum throughout. Colin Munro and Alex Hales opened the batting and played well, scoring 82 and 47 runs respectively. Munro hit 12 boundaries, including 8 fours and 4 sixes, while Hales hit 7 fours. Despite Imad Wasim being dismissed without scoring, Salman Ali Agha and Shadab Khan guided Islamabad United to victory with 25 and 10 runs respectively.
