The most awaited cricket tournament of the year – Pakistan Super League 2024 (PSL 9) kicked off today at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. PSL’s official Facebook page shared exclusive images of the PSL 9 opening ceremony that featured performances from major artists like Arif Lohar, pop-band Noori and this year’s anthem singers Ali Zafar and Aima Baig.

Pakistan Super League’s ninth edition (PSL 9) will be played across four cities that include Lahore, Karachi, Multan, and Peshawar from February 17 to March 18, 2024. The first match was played between Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United, who ended up winning by 8 wickets with 10 balls remaining.

It is pertinent to mention that some cricket fans have boycotted PSL 9 and #BoycottPSL is trending on X (formerly Twitter) due to PCB’s partnership with KFC Pakistan amid Israeli atrocities taking place in Gaza, which has resulted in over 20,000 deaths with majorities of the causalities being children.

KFC is owned by Yum! Brands, a company with a pro-Israel stance that is reportedly providing free meals to the IDF soldiers as they continue to kill innocent Palestinian children.
