Peshawar Zalmi secured a convincing victory over the Quetta Gladiators, advancing to the playoffs in the ninth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 9).
Quetta Gladiators won the toss and chose to bowl first but struggled to contain Peshawar Zalmi’s batting onslaught, allowing them to set a formidable target of 197 runs. Saim Ayub and Babar Azam provided a strong start, scoring 30 and 53 runs, respectively. Although Mohammad Haris added 20 runs and Haseebullah Khan fell for just 6 runs, Tom Kohler Cadmore’s 33 runs off 19 balls and Rovman Powell’s unbeaten 28 runs bolstered Zalmi’s total.
Despite their efforts, the Quetta Gladiators faced a challenging batting session, losing wickets at regular intervals. Openers Jason Roy and Saud Shakeel managed only 16 and 24 runs, respectively. Further disappointments followed as Rilee Rossouw, Khawaja Nafay, Omair Yousuf, Laurie Evans, Akeal Hosein, Sohail Khan, and Mohammad Amir failed to make any significant scores.
The team fell short by a significant margin of 76 runs, resulting in a clear victory for Peshawar Zalmi.
