The pride of Pakistan, Shahid Afridi holds a respectable rank not only in Pakistan, but all over the cricket universe. Being one of the senior players and old stager, Shahid enjoys high reverence by his squad as well as opponent players, be it any local or international tournament.   However, last night in Lanka premiere League or LPL, happening in Hambantota, Sri Lanka, an unusual episode surfaced, leaving the spectators dazzled.

Naveen ul Haq, an Afghani all-rounder was caught off guard by the legendary Shahid Afridi, owing to his misconduct with fellow player Muhammad Amir during the series.

Shahid Afridi and Naveen ul Haq heated argument

The incident started after 18th over during a t20 match between Kandy Tuskers and Galle Gladiators. Naveen ul Haq and Muhammad Amir engaged in a fiery wrangle, when the former was hit by a four by Amir on the fourth delivery.

Additionally, at the end of the over, right-arm pacer ostensibly abused Pakistani bowler, leading to a head to head battle between the two opponents. However, the dispute was soon frozen as the other players intervened, parting the two hot heads.

Moving further, it looked like neither of the two players was done yet, as the drama resurrected in the final over. The furious Amir once again hit the 21-year old for a six, elevating the previously settled combat. Naveen-ul-Haq’s teammates had to intrude again to bring the situation under control, as they defeated the Galle Gladiators marking their first win of the tournament.

The blue squad was soon spotted walking away, heading to the congratulating ritual, where Shahid Afridi, who serves as the captain of Galle Gladiators was waiting for the Afghani player.

Shahid Afridi was walking the aisle shaking hands with the opponent squad, when he came across the violent Naveen ul Haq. That was the time to retaliate for the Galle Gladiators. Afridi’s expressions were noted shifting from smiling to grim in a Nano second, right after he sighted Naveen. Abruptly stranding him, Afridi mouthed “What Happened?” to the junior, shushing him once and for all.

Twitter reactions

The clip soon went viral, taking the internet by storm as the die-hard Afridi devotees voiced out the lack of respect, that Afghani player had displayed. Here to mention, Shahid Afridi also tweeted about the event, revealing the little advice he had given to Naveen.

My advise to the young player was simple, play the game and don't indulge in abusive talk. I have friends in Afghanistan team and we have very cordial relations. Respect for teammates and opponents is the basic spirit of the game. https://t.co/LlVzsfHDEQ
