Sri Lanka defeated England by eight wickets in the 25th ICC World Cup 2023 match at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
This was a crucial match for England as their defeat puts them one step closer to exiting the World Cup 2023.
Sri Lanka easily chased the 157-run target set by England despite loss of only two wickets.
After Kusal Perera and Kusal Mendis were dismissed, Pathum Nissanka and Sadeera Samarawickrama cruised towards the target of 157 runs.
Earlier, England’s Ben Stokes was the top performing batter with 43 runs; however, the entire batting lineup failed miserably.
England are now scheduled to play against the hosts India on October 29 in Lucknow while Sri Lanka face Afghanistan in Pune on October 30
