Pakistan have defeated New Zealand by seven wickets to qualify for the final of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022 as they successfully chased a target of 153 runs in just 19.1 overs thanks to the opening partnership between Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan.
New Zealand had won the toss and elected to bat first but the Black Caps struggled to get on top of the attack in the opening 10 overs, smacking just five boundaries as they crawled to 59-3. However, Daryl Mitchell and Kane Williamson helped the team get back into the game as they scored 46 and 53 runs, respectively.
Meanwhile, Finn Allen was sent packing during the opening over by Shaheen Afridi, while Shadab Khan dismissed Devon Convoy for 21 runs. The Black Caps suffered an even bigger loss as they lost Glenn Philips was caught and bowled by Mohammad Nawaz for six.
New Zealand managed to set a target of 153 runs for Pakistan to qualify for the T20 World Cup 2022 Final.
Pakistan had a magnificent start to their batting with openers Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam scoring 57 and 53 runs, respectively. Mohammad Haris who came in to replace Mohammad Rizwan also managed much needed 26 runs with Shan Masood hitting the winning stroke and taking Pakistan to victory.
India will play England in the second semi-final tomorrow and the winning team will go up against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2022 Final on 13 November 2022.
