The Government of Qatar has banned women from wearing revealing clothes during the FIFA World Cup 2022 and fans are asked to dress appropriately keeping in mind the local customs and traditions.
According to the details, the Government of Qatar has issued strict guidelines and asked fans to be mindful of local laws and cultural customs, including the policies for alcohol, drugs, sexuality and dress code. Furthermore, those fans, who are arriving from other countries have been asked to rethink their outfits as various restrictions have been imposed by Qatar and advised to wear clothes that are not too revealing or tight-fitted.
Moreover, if one fails to follow the rules and exposes too much skin, they can even land themselves in jail, including men, who will face heavy fines as well as jail time if they remove their tops completely or wear sleeveless tank tops and tops with offensive slogans.
“Attitudes towards dressing in Qatar are relaxed, but visitors (men as well as women) are expected to show respect for the local culture by avoiding excessively revealing clothes in public.” the website of the Qatari Government states. “It is generally recommended for men and women to ensure their shoulders and knees are covered.” it adds.
Meanwhile, the FIFA website has reiterated the same, saying that women can wear anything they like but will have to keep in mind the strict laws of Qatar. Additionally, there are high-tech cameras installed in the stadiums to monitor all fans during the FIFA World Cup 2022 matches.
According to reports, there are 15,000 cameras equipped with facial-recognition technology to monitor fans during the event, which is scheduled to start from November 20th to December 18th with 32 teams compete for the champions title.
