It’s still in the early stages, but details about the display specifications for next year’s iPhone lineup have emerged from supply chain sources.
The leaked information suggests that the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max will see an increase in size, featuring 6.27-inch and 6.86-inch displays, both equipped with 120Hz LTPO panels. However, there is some skepticism about the reported size of the 16 Pro Max display, so it’s advisable to approach this information with caution.
In contrast, the standard iPhone 16 and 16 Plus are expected to maintain their current sizes of 6.12-inch and 6.69-inch, respectively, along with a consistent 60Hz refresh rate. Industry insider Ross Young appears to support this, indicating that Pro Motion will only be introduced to the standard models in 2025.
Looking ahead to the 2024 iPhone 16 models, it’s anticipated that Dynamic Island will be a feature across all variants.
While loyal iPhone users may not be bothered by another year with a 60Hz display, the displays on Apple’s premium base iPhones are starting to appear less competitive compared to those of Android’s flagship and midrange lineup, raising questions about their competitiveness in the market.
