OpenAI’s ChatGPT seems to be down for users across the globe with a service giving an error message when making any sort of requests. According to the details, ChatGPT is giving different error messages to different users when they type out of request, including, “Error in Moderation” or “Hmmm. something seems to have gone wrong” with a secondary message stating, “There was an error generating a response.”
It is pertinent to mention that ChatGPT has gone down for the second time in just two days and OpenAI has acknowledged the problem on their service status page. “The team is monitoring error rates closely, and we are continuing to work on a fix for this issue.” the company stated followed by another update that read, “We are continuing to investigate this issue.”
Meanwhile, there is a spike of complaints regarding ChatGPT on Downdetector, an online platform offering real-time updates on website statuses, from users who rely on the AI chatbot for their work as they are unable to access the service entirely.
Both the free and paid versions of ChatGPT are currently down, including ChatGPT 4, which users pay for and rely on for professional tasks, which is causing significant frustration and disruption to their workflows. Right now, there is no timeframe regarding restoration of the service.
