Meta, formerly known as Facebook, has rolled out its ‘Year in Review’ feature for both Facebook and Instagram, allowing users to share personalized ‘Year Together’ card that highlights the friends, feelings, places and people that mattered most to them in 2021.
The new feature reflects on user’s year on the social media platforms and curates it into a shareable experience. The ‘Year in Review’ feature is available globally starting today (10 December 2021) and it will remain accessible until 30th December 2021.
Users on Instagram can share a custom end-of-year ‘Playback’ time capsule to their Instagram Story. The users will be able to select up to 10 stories to share with their followers. However, the users will only be eligible for this feature if they have posted more than three stories this year or they have turned on Stories Archive.
Instagram will suggest ‘Playback’ posts for the user, but the user will have the option to pick what they want to share. The users will see a message in their Instagram Feed inviting them to create their own Playback and the feature will remain available to users for several weeks.
Previously, the Instagram users created their own version of the end-of-year feature, however, this year, Instagram is offering an in-app method for its users to create shareable end-of-year content. The new feature on Facebook and Instagram is fully customizable so users can add or remove content and posts that they want to share with their followers.
These features will be rolled out to all users within the next few days.
