The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has recently announced an increase for Mobile Phone Tax for import of new smartphones in Pakistan and the decision specifically affects iPhones as they are considered a premium and luxury product in the country. In this article, we have provided a breakdown of FBR Tax on iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8, and iPhone 8 Plus for PTA Approval in Pakistan.
These may be some significantly older models but they are still very popular options in Pakistan with many people buying previously owned (used) kits of iPhone 7, 7 Plus, iPhone 8 and 8 Plus. The following table will show you new FBR Taxes imposed on iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8, and iPhone 8 Plus to get PTA Approval in Pakistan.
FBR Taxes on iPhone For iPhone 7 / iPhone 7 Plus / iPhone 8 / 8 Plus For PTA Approval
Devices | Tax on Passport (PKR) | Tax on CNIC (PKR) |
---|---|---|
iPhone 7 | Rs. 95324 | Rs. 98088 |
iPhone 7 Plus | Rs. 95324 | Rs. 98088 |
iPhone 8 | Rs. 98977 | Rs. 110311 |
iPhone 8 Plus | Rs. 98977 | Rs. 110311 |
The above taxes for iPhone 7 series and iPhone 8 series are pretty hefty considering these are almost obsolete models that are several years old now. However, FBR is still charging nearly Rs. 100,000 on the iPhone 7 series as taxes, while the same tax is over Rs. 100,000 for the iPhone 8 series.
This brings many of these basic devices out of the reach of large number of consumers, who end up opting for less than ideal entry level smartphones.
