Google Contacts had a Material You redesign back in July 2021 and the company is now looking to improve the app by introducing Gmail-style Chips options that will let you sort through contacts much easily.
Last year, Google introduced a feature dubbed, Chips, to its Gmail app for Android. The Chips feature offered an advance filtering option that allowed users to filter their mail based on the sender, recipient, date, attachments, and more.
The search giant is now introducing the same kind of Chips option to their Google Contacts app on Android. A screenshot of the feature has already been shared by Android Police and shows the Chips appearing below the search bar in the Contacts app.
According to the details, the first two chips – Phone and Email Contacts – will let users filter the contacts based on how they have been in touch with the contact and this could prove useful when you are searching a person’s email address whom you have emailed before.
Furthermore, there is an option to filter the contacts on the basis of the company. So, if you are searching for the contact number for someone work-related and cannot remember the name, you will have the option to filter your search based on the company.
There could be other chips as well, but these three mentioned above are the only ones that can be seen in the screenshot shared by Android Police. The feature seems to be under testing right now and it might take some time before it becomes available to everyone.
