Google has expanded testing for Duet AI, its real-time collaborator for online services like Gmail, Docs, Drive, Sheets, and Slides. Initially unveiled during Google I/O 2023, Duet AI has been in closed testing. Google is now testing it with Workspace Labs program users before a wider launch. Users enrolled in the program are starting to see Duet AI’s side panel, offering experimental features across various apps.
According to 9to5Google report, Duet AI’s capabilities include summarizing email threads, suggesting replies, and answering questions in Gmail. In Drive, it can track files and summarize project folders, while in Docs, it can brainstorm, write content, and add elements. Sheets allow for custom task planning, including creating tables and formulas. Similarly, in Slides, Duet AI can generate slides, add elements, and create layouts.
Duet AI’s integration with Google services aims to improve productivity by understanding contextual speech and offering tailored assistance. While features like generating unique backgrounds for Google Meet were planned, they are not mentioned in the current report. Upon exiting beta testing, Duet AI is expected to be available as part of the Google One AI Premium plan for personal Google accounts. Google has previously detailed its features, indicating its potential to streamline tasks and enhance collaboration across its suite of online services.
