It seems that the launch of the Google Pixel Watch may be near as we have seen several leaks hinting towards it. According to a report by 9to5Google, the company has filed an application to get the phrase ‘Pixel Watch’ trademarked. This development comes after years of speculations regarding Google’s wearable device.
However, the trademark filed with the U.S Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) does not reveal much details about the upcoming Google Pixel Watch. The description says that ‘Pixel Watch’ name is “intended to cover categories of smartwatches; cases adapted for holding smartwatches; wearable computers in the nature of smartwatches; smartwatch straps; smartwatch bands.’
Furthermore, the filing states that while the Pixel Watch name is not in current use, there is intent to use it. It bears mentioning that Google has recently changed its store to more prominently feature watches, which may be a sign that the company is nearing an actual launch for the Google Pixel Watch.
Till now, the rumors regarding the upcoming Google Pixel Watch referred to the wearable device by its internal codename ‘Rohan’. According to the latest tweet by tipster Evan Blass, the launch of the Pixel Rohan is imminent. However, the tipster did not reveal any specific timeline for the launch. Meanwhile, there is another tipster Jon Prosser, who claimed that Google may launch the device at Google I/O 2022, which is scheduled to be held on 11th and 12th May, 2022.
According to previous reports, the upcoming Google Pixel Watch will likely come with a next gen Google Assistant and it will be powered by a Samsung Exynos chipset. The next-gen Assistant is said to be programmed to process your speech directly on your device rather than via Google’s servers. Moreover, the smartwatch is said to carry key health and fitness tracking features such as step counter, calories counter, heart rate monitor, Sp02 sensor, and more.
It is rumored that the Google Pixel Watch will be unveiled alongside the Google Pixel 6a smartphones. It is safe to assume that we are going to hear more details about the wearing in the coming weeks. Furthermore, Android Central has shared some images of the Google Pixel Watch that appeared to have been leaked online after someone found an abandoned unit at some restaurant.
