The Government is working on its plan for the Ministry of IT and Telecom, which includes bringing PayPal, Stripe and Starlink to Pakistan.
According to the details, the Government plans to enhance the IT exports by institutionalizing dollar retention accounts, introducing IT corporate debit cards to enable easy flow of money in and out of retention accounts, streamlining tax issues and training 200,000 IT professionals to add $5 Billion to IT exporters.
Furthermore, the Government is planning on bringing PayPal and Stripe to Pakistan, which is going to help the growing freelancer industry in the country. As part of its plan to help freelancers, the Government is also working to establish co-working spaces for 500,000 freelancers to increase their potential to additional $3 billion per year.
The Government is also planning on bringing Elon Musk’s Starlink to Pakistan in order to improve connectivity across the country, which is increase competitive among Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and help to improve overall services.
There are plans to enable active spectrum sharing, forward-looking taxation policies, regulations and incentives for the telecom industry to prepare for the upcoming 5G auction within 10 months.
Moreover, the Government is planning to provide incentives for local manufacturing and export of smartphones from Pakistan. As part of its plans to make technology more accessible, the Government is working on introducing smartphone financing platform to enhance local demand and make smartphones easily accessible to people.
