The federal government has reportedly decided to lift the ban on mobile phone imports and a notification regarding the order is expected to be issued later this week.
According to the details, the Ministry of Industry and Production, Cabinet Secretariat, and Customs advised and requested to revoke the ban on mobile phone imports since they helped generate millions of rupees in revenue.
It is pertinent to mention that the Federal Government had imposed a ban on the import of mobile phones in the country in order to recover the trade deficit and constant depreciation of Pakistan Rupee against the US Dollar (USD to PKR).
The federal government had initially issued a list of 38 items that were banned from import into the country, including mobile phones, automobiles, home appliances, and several more.
