Finnish-based HMD (Human Mobile Devices) Global company seems to be leaving the Nokia Mobile branding and to start selling smartphones under its own name. The company also signals a new direction in its approach, as it unveiled that the company would soon release a product series comprising of smartphones, tablets, and wireless earbuds.
Although the official HMD site still refers to the company as the “Makers of Nokia phones”, there are increasing hints that we might see the launch of Nokia branded feature phones at some point in the future.
HMD aims to introduce a lineup of new phones that prioritize toughness, fun, security, speed, and affordability. To pave the way for these new offerings, many of the current Nokia-branded smartphones and tablets are being offered at discounted prices until supplies last. Meanwhile, Nokia Corporation remains a global leader in network equipment, continuing its legacy as a prominent patent licensor in the mobile tech arena, boasting over 6,000 patent families essential to 5G.
