Dark mode is probably a favorite of most people when it comes to using their phones. Not only does a dark screen help somewhat with a better battery backup but it just looks nicer. WhatsApp dark mode is something many users have been patiently waiting for quite some time now. Although we have seen them testing the dark mode on both Android and iOS for while now but it has always been to select devices running beta and never officially released.
However, according to WEBetaInfo, WhatsApp now has a battery saver function in it’s latest beta app that turns on its dark mode. The beta version they specifically mention is 2.19.353. The new beta has a an option to select the theme. There are three options:
Based on what WABetaInfo mentions about the new dark mode, a user has these three options to select from in devices running Android 9.0 Pie and below. Starting Android 10, there is a system wide dark mode option and WhatsApp will work in sync with the system.
According to WABetaInfo, the wallpaper in the background of the app remains the same what we see now in the White mode. It’s just a change of color but not the pattern of the wallpaper itself.
It might be very soon that we get to see this being rolled out officially to users because WhatsApp has been working on this for quite some time now and from what WABetaInfo tells us, the dark mode seems to be working well.
However, changes may come to what has already been rolled out to the beta version because it is still not a final stable release and officially it might take a long time before we get to see anything on the stable version at all. At the end of the day, all we can do is speculate based on the information we have.
