Huawei is said to be preparing for the release of its next generation flagship Mate series smartphones under the anticipated Mate 70 lineup. According to reports emanating from Weibo tipster Smart Pikachu, the Mate 70 series is projected to be unveiled in China in September 2024 based on a similar release schedule as its predecessor, the Mate 60 series.
The leak implies that the new lineup of Huawei Mate 70 is going to be more powerful than the recently launched iPhone 16 series. If the rumored launch in September turns out to be true, it shows that Huawei wants to compete with Apple’s 2024 iPhones.
Furthermore, Smart Pikachu gave a clue that Huawei is designing another gadget with 1-inch sensor for the essential camera. This may be a new model that might be added to the Mate or P series, reflecting Huawei’s attention to photo capacities. The Huawei P70 series is being developed along with the Mate 70 series; rumors indicate that it may launch in two screen sizes, with a Sony IMX989 sensor on the rear paired to a curved OLED panel up front at 6.7-inches and 1.5K resolution.
