Instagram has finally brought a feature to add moderators to a live video stream, who will be able to report comments and remove viewers, and turn off comments for specific viewers as well if needed. Previously, these options were only available to person who started the live video on the social media platform.
The announcement of the moderator feature for Instagram live video was made by the company on Twitter. The new feature will allow creators or streamers to add moderators to their live video stream on Instagram by tapping the three dots in the comment bar.

We’re launching Live Moderator on Instagram Live, where creators can assign a mod and give them the power to:
✅ Report comments
✅ Remove viewers from Live

Furthermore, the app will automatically suggest moderators or allow the user to select / add a moderator by searching a particular account in the search bar. The moderators will be able to help the host manage comments as well as report or remove comments and viewers from the stream.
The Meta-owned platform has been adding a bunch of video related features in recent weeks, especially their Reels features, which has been launched in over 150 countries to compete major players like TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Snapchat Spotlights.
Furthermore, Instagram has recently shut down their IGTV app to focus more on their Reels. The company said that as the support for its dedicated video sharing platform comes to an end, IGTV videos and other video-based content will continue to remain available in the main Instagram app.
