Instagram is currently testing a new feature that lets users pin specific posts to their profiles above their photo grid, which is somewhat similar to the Twitter’s pinned posts. According to the details, the new feature is currently under testing with select users on the platform.
The users who are part of the testing will be able to see an option for “Pin to your profile” when they tap on the three dot menu on an Instagram post. Currently, the platform offers users the ability to pin Stories to their profile, but the new feature would provide Instagram users with the ability to pin posts to their profiles. “We’re testing a new feature that lets people feature posts on their profile,” a Meta spokesperson told TechCrunch.
The ability to pin specific posts to your profile would allow users to highlight their favorite posts above the photo grid so it isn’t buried down their profiles. However, the feature seems to have been under development for some time now as reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi spotted it back in January.

It is pertinent to mention that Instagram is also changing its ranking algorithm to start favoring original content more. The announcement was made by Adam Mosseri, the company head, who said that the modifications are in place because creators are “incredibly important to Instagram’s future.”
