Meta’s Instagram is rolling out a new update that will allow users to shop directly from their chats. According to the details, the new feature works for purchases from “qualified small businesses”, which will confirm your orders, create payment requests, and collect payment all within the chat interface.
This will allow everything to remain in the same place, including your questions, business responses, any other communication you’ve exchanged with them, along with your orders, shipping, payment, and tracking details as everything will be processed within your Instagram chats.
Instagram’s official press release details a theoretical scenario where you’re interested in a backpack, you contact the business via Instagram DM, chat with the business about the order and any customizations, and when you’re satisfied, you place an order right in your Instagram chat.
You can also ask the business any follow-up questions in the same chat, and also track your order. Furthermore, you can make payments using Meta Pay or using a debit or credit card.
The feature is already rolling out around the globe and will be available to everyone soon.
