Instagram is working on a feature to let users reply to stories with voice messages and images, according to feature tracker Alessandro Paluzzi. The image and video sharing platform has been adding more feature to its Stories and Reels to compete with other platforms like TikTok and Snapchat.
The meta-owned company has recently introduced a feature that allows liking Stories, which would send a notification to the user instead of a new message in their inbox. However, Instagram is yet to reveal more information about a product tagging feature for users in the US, which was previous exclusive to business and creator accounts.
Instagram is working on another feature that may allow users to respond to Stories with a voice message or an inmage, as spotted by popular app developer and feature tracker, Alessandro Paluzzi. In a tweet, the developer revealed that the meta-owned company had added a microphone icon and image icon to the Instagram Stories.
Paluzzi shared a screenshot of the interface for responding to Instagram Stories, which was discovered by reverse engineering the app. However, the developer did not provide any details whether the feature was spotted on iOS or Android version of the social media app.

This will make the process of responding to users after watching their stories much simpler as it would shorten the process of tapping on a user’s profile at the top of their Instagram Story, then tapping on the Message Button in order to send a response through voice message or an image.
It is pertinent to mention that users can currently respond to Instagram Stories with one of eight ‘Quick Reactions’ emoji as well as text message and a GIF reply. However, it is worth noting that the feature is currently under development and there is no telling when it will be rolled out to users.
