Javed Afridi, the owner of Peshawar Zalmi and one of the main stakeholders in MG Pakistan, has hinted to bring an Apple’s iPhone assembly plant in Pakistan.
The development came as Javed Afridi responded to journalist Shiffa Z. Yousafzai on Twitter. “Please bring an iPhone assembling plant to Pakistan,” asked the TV presenter and Javed Afridi responded by saying that he was “already in touch with Apple.”

Currently, there are massive taxes for PTA approval on all smartphones imported into the country as the Federal Government wants smartphone makers to set up their local assembly plants in the country. Since Apple iPhones are expensive to begin with, the taxes imposed on these smartphones may seem ridiculous, however, this can be avoided by setting up local assembly.
If Javed Afridi is successful in setting up an assembly plant for Apple iPhone in Pakistan, the prices of these smartphones will drop significantly as the massive PTA Taxes will no longer be implemented on them.
