Chrome is working on upgrading features to improve your search experience, making it more natural and easier to use. Now, even before you start typing in the search box, Chrome will display query suggestions based on your past searches. For example, if you’ve been exploring home decor items like curtains, you’ll see visual suggestions for other home decor items such as furniture and art the next time you’re searching.
Although this feature may seem new, Google has been experimenting with a similar “People also search for” feature since 2020. The current iteration is a more refined and personalized version of this previous feature. It is designed to give the users more personalized and appropriate recommendations by learning from their search history.
Also, Chrome’s newest version makes it possible to get search suggestions with bad Wi-Fi connections. This is done by improving on-device features, that is, a compact, read-only model of the most relevant search suggestions is downloaded directly onto the device. This is a stored data model that allows you to get the suggestions in seconds even if the network is slow or you are in incognito mode.
Even in Incognito mode, where typically no suggestions are offered to maintain privacy, users can still benefit from this feature. This is made possible by the locally stored data model, ensuring that search inspiration is available even in situations where the connection is sluggish or privacy is a concern. Chrome’s updates aim to provide users with a seamless search experience under various circumstances.
