Nvidia is expanding its RTX 3000 series graphics card lineup and the company seems to be working on a variation of a current model rather than introducing a completely new model. It seems that Nvidia is in the process of developing a 6 GB version of the budget-friendly RTX 3050.
Anticipating the 6GB Nvidia RTX 3050 Back in January 2022, Nvidia took the wraps off the RTX 3050 graphics card, featuring 8 GB GDDR6 memory and 3072 CUDA cores, all for the appealing price of $249. Despite some debates about its performance, its affordability quickly propelled it to popularity. However, Nvidia didn’t stop there and continued to work a more budget-friendly version, setting its sights on a 6 GB RTX 3050.
Nvidia RTX 3050 6GB Details
A product listing for Palit RTX 3050 6GB models surfaced on a Russian retailer’s website, unveiling an affordable GPU option. As per the listing, the card boasts a base clock of 1042MHz, a notable decrease compared to the current RTX 3050 8GB variant (at 1,552MHz). Fortunately, the boost speed remains unchanged at 1,777MHz, as does the CUDA Core count at 2,560.
Nvidia is well aware that many consumers prioritize affordability above all else. If you’re contemplating waiting for the 6 GB Nvidia RTX 3050 when considering a graphics card purchase, it’s worth taking into account. Despite maintaining the same CUDA Core count, the lower base clock and vRAM may impact performance, potentially falling short of the desired standards for the games you intend to play.
However, for those focusing on less demanding games and tasks, the 6 GB variant could offer significant savings. Moreover, some gaming laptops already feature the RTX 3050 with reduced vRAM, providing a practical reference point for potential performance with the 6 GB model.
