Google Pixel 8 Pro introduces body temperature tracking in its latest feature drop. This bio-monitoring capability, labeled as “medical-grade,” has potentially received FDA approval. With the Thermometer application, Pixel 8 Pro users can now scan their forehead for a temperature reading.
The results can be saved to the Fitbit profile, enhancing health tracking capabilities. While Google claims the feature provides accurate body temperature readings, its reliability compared to medical thermometers is yet to be verified.
The sensor employs infrared radiation emitted from the object to measure human body temperature, covering a range from -20 degrees Celsius to 200 degrees Celsius. However, the accuracy of this feature for human use remains uncertain.
It’s crucial to note that the technology shouldn’t replace traditional thermometers for medical purposes. As of now, details about the feature’s accuracy are limited, and users are advised to await further updates for additional information on its performance.
