The PTA Zonal Office in Lahore, in collaboration with the FIA Cyber Crime Circle, successfully carried out a raid against a mobile phone company franchise in Sheikhupura. The operation aimed to combat the misuse of illegal SIM cards, often linked to criminal activities such as fraud and identity theft.
According to the PTA statement, the FIA seized 6 active SIMs and 11 BVS devices used for illegal SIM activation during the raid. Two individuals have been nominated for FIR, and the FIA is currently conducting further investigations.
The PTA emphasized that the illegal SIM cards are associated with various illicit operations, and the Authority has implemented a monitoring and detection system to identify unusual patterns in SIM card activations. This technological upgrade allows for prompt intervention and insights into suspicious activations, highlighting the PTA’s unwavering commitment to eradicating the illegal issuance of SIMs.
