ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has decided to de-activate smuggled ‘non-custom’ paid mobile phones from 1st December 2018.
Non-custom paid mobile phones will be deactivated over the lapse of 30 days.
Mobile Phones currently in use or activated before 1st Dec will not be affected or require any registration.
On 18th,October 2018 Government delayed the Phone verification after a meeting with All Pakistan Mobile Phone Union.

If you are purchasing a new phone or carry any phone that you wish to install a sim in and activate after 1st Dec 2018, make sure to send its IMEI number to 8484 to know about its legal status.
The IMEI number can be found the mobile phone’s box or by dialing *#06# on its screen.
Always prefer to buy PTA certified Mobile Phones and for used/Refurbished phones kindly refer to PTA verification before buying.
