Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has unblocked non-approved mobile phones. However, the reason behind the move is to lure people to pay their taxes and get their mobile phones PTA approved. According to the details, the non-approved phones will continue to work for some time before getting automatically blocked within 60 days.
It is pertinent to mention that users are required to pay required duty / tax to PTA in order to get their mobile phones approved for usage after 60 days of arrival in Pakistan. If not approved, the SIM cards / cellular network stops working on these devices until said PTA tax is paid by the user.
In recent days, there are have multiple reports of non-PTA approved mobile phones that started working local cellular networks / sim cars and many believed that current coalition government led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has abolished the PTA tax on these mobile phones.

According to the details, PTA has unblocked an unspecified number of non-PTA approved mobile phones that will continue to work for some time and automatically be blocked anytime within 60 days.
