TikTok recently unveiled the ‘Add to Music App’ tool, changing the game when it comes to discovering and saving songs from viral videos directly to platforms like Spotify or Amazon Music.
Known for propelling hits like Lil Nas X’s ‘Old Town Road’ and Megan Thee Stallion’s ‘Savage’ to international stardom, TikTok has now made the journey from discovery to enjoyment much simpler.
This new feature, revealed by TikTok this week, does away with the need for users to scramble to find the names of catchy tunes featured in videos. Whether you’re hooked on a dance trend or curious about a musical snippet, this tool lets you effortlessly save identified songs to your favorite music streaming service.
Ole Obermann, Global Head of Music Business Development at TikTok, highlights the platform’s role as a music discovery and promotion powerhouse. ‘Add to Music App’ acts as a direct link between TikTok’s vast global community and music streaming services, seamlessly connecting discovery on the platform with consumption on Spotify or Amazon Music.
To make use of this innovative feature, users simply need to open the TikTok app, find a video with a song they want to save, and choose the ‘Add Song’ option next to the track details at the bottom of the video. From there, users can pick between Spotify or Amazon Music and specify whether to add the track to a new, existing, or default playlist.
Sten Garmark, Vice President and Global Head of Consumer Experience at Spotify, underscores the platform’s dedication to providing users with smooth access to the audio they love. ‘Add to Music App’ aims to reduce the effort needed to enjoy favorite songs, ensuring that users can effortlessly save songs to Spotify for a more personalized listening experience.
Although currently available in the US and UK, the ‘Add to Music App’ feature is gearing up for a broader rollout, promising a transformative and streamlined music discovery experience for users worldwide.
