Cloudflare has published a list of the ‘Top 10 Most Popular Websites in 2021’ compared to the previous year, based on data aggregated through its Radar Service. In a blog post, the web giant explained that its conclusions were drawn from “aggregated data from the 1.1.1.1 Public DNS Resolver” and a “range of data” that Cloudflare has about global internet traffic patterns.
According to Cloudflare, the search giant, Google, wasn’t the most visited website towards the end of 2021 as the number one spot was taken over by the popular social media platform, TikTok. Meanwhile, Google was placed second on the list with Facebook, Microsoft, and Apple, coming in the next three spots.

Cloudflare stated that TikTok was first able to take the number one spot on 17th February 2021, but it lasted only for a day before Google took back that position. However, the battle for the spot continued between the two online giants throughout the year with TikTok in the lead on some days, while Google was #1 on the remainder of the days.
Meanwhile, Facebook has consistently been on the third spot on the list for ‘Top 10 Most Popular Websites in 2021’, except for October 2021, when the social media giant dropped to number four position on the list, but Microsoft and Apple, on the other hand, have managed to cling to the fourth and fifth positions, respectively.
Netflix and YouTube had managed to maintain their position on the seventh and eighth post on the list just like the previous year, while Twitter was able to climb up to number nine with Instagram being knocked out of list and WhatsApp taking up the tenth position.
