Twitter Edit Button has been spotted again and the uncooked version of the feature suggests that users can not only edit words but also change the entire contents of their tweet, including any type of media such as images and videos. Furthermore, there are several screenshots of the new upcoming edit button that shows how an edited tweet looks like on the Twitter Web App.
Reverse Engineer Jane Machun Wong has shared several screenshots of the Twitter Edit Button and showed how the new feature will work. According to the short clip posted by Wong, Twitter users can click on the three dots, select the “Edit Tweet” option from the drop-down context menu, and change the tweet.
However, the reverse engineer says that the current unreleased version of the Edit Tweet reuploads media (images, videos, GIFs, etc) instead of using them. She added that the video is turned into an image which may be a case of “mishandling media.” In a reply to a question, Wong said that it could mean that users can replace media while editing their tweet.
the current unreleased version of Edit Tweet reuploads media (images, videos, GIFs, etc) instead of reusing them. an inefficient use of the bandwidth and media processing power, might be lossy too. plus it turns my video into an image (mishandling media type) pic.twitter.com/HjoIA0CZhO

Furthermore, she posted two separate tweets showing how an edit tweet as well as an old tweet edit is expected to look like on Twitter Web App. In the case of how an edit tweet looks like, there will an “Edited” clickable link next to the timestamp. It is assumed that it shows all the previous versions of that tweet.
Moreover, in the second case, Twitter will tip users about an old, unedited version of the Tweet by mentioning, “There’s a new version of this Tweet.” under the original tweet.
