How to update Qmobile Noir A600 to android 4.2.1 (Micromax A116 ROM)

This is useful for all Qmobile Noir A600 users, Special Thanks to Haris Tanwir ( INCPak Forum Member ) for sharing this with everyone. There is always similar smartphone sort of clone available somewhere else in the world – Qmobile Noir A600 and Micromax A116 having almost alike features, due to which upgrading QMobile A600 became easier and possible.

I wouldn’t change a single thing, just as the way Haris Tanwir shared on www.incpak.net  INCPak Forum , bringing it on the upfront so all QMobile Noir A600 users can use this method and upgrade their smartphones.

Hi guys,
I wanted to share my experience for updating Qmobile A600 rom to A116 stock rom. A116 and A600 are the same phones they only have different branding on them. They are manufactured by TINNO mobile and their codename is S9201.
As Qmobile is not offering android 4.2 for A600 i had to upgrade it using micromax rom. its been a month since i updated to MMX rom and its working really smoothly.
Three tools are needed for the rom updation:

1. SP Flash Tool
2. Micromax ROM
3. CWM recovery image
4. Pakistan Baseband

Please follow the steps carefully as the process can potentially brick your device
1 – Download all the softwares atated above.

2 – Run SP Flash Tools(Flash_tool.exe) as an administrator. Goto Options and check USB mode, Goto DA Download All -> Speed -> check force to high speed.

3 – Extract the “S9201_4.2_MP_F3F8_B1_IN_MMX_13_FLASHER_USER.r ar” archive and replace “recovery.img” with the CWM recovery “recovery-cwm-6.0.3.0.img”, rename “recovery-cwm-6.0.3.0.img” to “recovery.img” and replace it with the “recovery.img” present in the archive.
(this step is really important coz you have to flash the baseband through CWM recovery)

4 – Go to Sp Flash Tools -> press scatter loading button and select “MT6589_Android_scatter_emmc.txt” file present in the “S9201_4.2_MP_F3F8_B1_IN_MMX_13_FLASHER_USER.r ar” archive, you will be seeing all the files that needs to be install in the below container, make sure they are all checked. And press the Firmware Upgrade button, the program will start searching for the android phone.

5 – Shutdown your A600 and remove SIMS, sd card and battery, YES battery too, surprisingly you dont need battery for the whole process. and connect it with your USB cable. SP Flash tools will automatically detect the phone and start updating. First you will see red colored bar filling then blue then purple and the finally yellow. DONOT disconnect your device during this process.

6 – When the updating is finished you will see a green ring appear, close SP Flash tools and disconnect your fone, insert the battery and turn the fone on.

IN SOME CASES YOU MIGHT FACE TPUPGRADE DIALOG BOX AFTER BOOTING, IN THAT CASE DO NOT TOUCH YOUR SCREEN DONT EVEN PRESS THE OK BUTTON LET THE UPGRADE FINISH ON ITS OWN. IF YOU TOUCH YOUR PHONE SCREEN IT COULD MAKE THE SCREEN SENSOR MALFUNCTION. THIS PROCESS COULD TAKE 10 TO 15 MINS.

In my case TpUpgrade didn’t happen, i don’t know why.

7 – After your device is booted you could see and experience all the android 4.2.1 goodness, but your sim cards wont work, so you need to flash the Pakistani Baseband from CWM recovery. copy the “Pakistan baseband.zip” to you sd card, shut down your phone, go into recovery by pressing volume up and power button. You will be seeing the familiar CWM recovery interface flash the zip file from sd card and you are done. You can now run pakistani sims on the phone.
