Meta-owned WhatsApp has finally released a feature that gives more power to group admins, including the ability to delete messages for everyone. The new feature is available to the users of the latest WhatsApp beta. This is part of a new feature, called WhatsApp Communities, a system that will enable people to bring together separate groups under one umbrella with a structure that works for them.
Communities bring several new features to the encrypted messaging platform, including the new tools for group admins. One of the features that stands out is the ability for WhatsApp Group Admins to delete messages for everyone is a specific group. Furthermore, the feature enables group admins to send announcement messages to everyone and control over which groups can be included.
Moreover, WhatsApp has also announced that there will be an increase in the number of group members to 512 people compared to the previous limit of 256 people, while group voice calls can now hold up to 32 people compared to previous limit of eight people.
WhatsApp has also increased the file sharing limit for users to 2GB compared to the previous limit of 100MB, which is much welcomed feature as many users had to use alternative services for this purpose. It bears mentioning that file sharing on the platform is also end-to-end encrypted.
