Facebook has announced that is it is increasing the previous limit of four WhatsApp Group Call participants and the service will not support up to 8 people. The company is also introducing Facebook Messenger Rooms on its own platform that can hold up to 50 people.
The increase in the number of WhatsApp Group Call participants has already been spotted in beta versions of the encrypted messenger app for Android and iPhone as well as Facebook confirming the increase through Twitter.

This change will start rolling out to Android and iPhone users next week according to WhatsApp head Will Cathcart who tweeted about the updated WhatsApp Group Call participants.
Mark Zuckerberg also made a Facebook post focusing on the Facebook Messenger Rooms feature that is going to be launched and this will hold up to 50 people that can pop in and out whenever they want.
These steps are being taken by Facebook to rival and compete with Zoom which has gained imense popularity in recent days since the global lockdown as many people are turning to the app to stay in touch with loved ones.
The company plans to introduce a lot more features and also plans on launching Messenger Kids to more than 70 countries.
