WhatsApp is testing the ability to lets users hide their ‘Last Seen’ status from specific contacts. The new privacy feature, which is already available to WhatsApp for Android beta users, is now making its way to iOS users as well. The feature has been spotted in the latest iOS beta version, according to WABetaInfo and those who have signed up for the beta program will be able to hide their ‘Last Seen’ status from specific contacts on WhatsApp.
Currently, WhatsApp offers just three options to hide ‘Last Seen’ status from your contacts. The first option is Everyone, which basically shows your ‘Last Seen’ status to everyone, while the second option, My Contacts, will show your ‘Last Seen’ status to just those who are saved in your phone’s contacts. There is also a third option, Nobody, which basically hides your ‘Last Seen’ status from everyone.
The new privacy option could be very useful since it will allow users to hide their ‘Last Seen’ status from specific contacts. The new feature or option will show up in the privacy settings for ‘Last Seen’ status as ‘My Contacts except’ and it will allow users to select contacts they want to exclude from seeing their ‘Last Seen’ status.
However, it is yet to be confirmed as to when the company will release this feature on a global scale to the stable version of the app. The Meta-owned company has been testing this feature for some time now so it will be save to assume that it could make way to everyone soon.
