WhatsApp is working on launching message reactions for some time now and the feature has been hinted in the new beta version of the encrypted messenger. The company has been working on bringing new Instagram and Messenger DM-like features to the platform since a while now and has introduced several changes over the last few months.
According to a new report from WABetaInfo, the company is nearing the launch of its message reactions for WhatsApp as the company has spotted that “reaction notifications” are now available in the beta version of the application on Android. The message reactions on WhatsApp would be made available to beta users for testing and then it would make its way to the stable version of the app.
The message reactions on WhatsApp would allow users to tap on a message and leave a reaction (emoji) on it, much like on Instagram and Messenger. In case a user has an older version of WhatsApp, they will be notified to update the application from their respective app stores.
The setting spotted by WABetaInfo is related to notification a person would receive whenever someone reacts to their message on WhatsApp. The notification setting is simple to understand and the moment message reactions are made available on WhatsApp, the users will be notified when someone reacts to their messages.
It is pertinent to mention that like all other notification settings, the reactions notifications will be available for both individual chat threats as well as group chats. Furthermore, it bears mentioning that while the company has been testing the feature for sometime now, there is no confirmation regarding the exact date when the feature will me made available on Android and iOS.
