WhatsApp has been spotted testing a new camera interface for Android devices with a completely redesigned layout when it comes to the position of the Flash shortcut and the Switch Camera button.
The newly designed camera interface for WhatsApp on Android was spotted by WABetaInfo, a service that tracks new features on the messaging platform. According to the tracker, the new camera interface on WhatsApp was first spotted on beta version 2.22.1.2 for Android. However, the new experience is not yet live to beta testers and appears to be part of some internal testing by the company.
WABetaInfo has shared a screenshot of the new camera interface on WhatsApp, showing the the Flash shortcut has been moved to the top-right corner from the bottom left and adds a circular shade to the Switch Camera button. In place of the Flash shortcut, the new in-app camera interface on the messaging application gives access to user’s recent photos from the bottom-left corner.
It is not yet known when exactly we could get to see the updated camera on WhatsApp as it is still under internal testing and WhatsApp is also known to scrap features entirely and never introduce them beyond the testing phase.
Furthermore, the messaging platform is also working on allowing group admins to delete messages for everyone within a group.
