WhatsApp is found to be testing the ability to allow group admins to delete messages for everyone in the group, allowing them to control spam and misinformation that is becoming a real problem of the encrypted messaging application.
The messaging service seems to be working on the ability to allow WhatsApp Group Admins to delete messages for all members in the group. This seems to be an extension of the current ‘Delete for Everyone’ feature that was introduced back in 2017.
WhatsApp does allow users to delete their own messages individual chats as well as groups for everyone using the the Delete for Everyone feature. However, the company has not yet given the ability for group admins to use the feature and delete messages sent by a member of the group for everyone else.
WABetaInfo, a service that tracks new features on WhatsApp, shared a screenshot of the new feature, which reads, “This was removed by an admin.” The feature would essentially help group admins remove messages circulating fake news and misinformation in their groups.
The messaging platform is also testing the ability to allow users the ability to preview voice messages before sending it to the recipient.
