WhatsApp is working on increasing the message deleting time from the current 1 hour, 8 minutes, 16 seconds, to 7 days in a future update. Furthermore, the encrypted messenger has also been spotted working on messages reaction feature similar to what is found on Instagram and Messenger.
According to WABetaInfo, the new update to the message deletion feature was spotted on WhatsApp Desktop Beta 2.2147.4. The update suggested that WhatsApp is now planning to change the message deleting time from 1 hour, 8 minutes, 16 seconds, to 7 days and 8 minutes.
WhatsApp was reportedly working on removing any restriction to the message deleting time but the company is now planning to modify the current message deletion time at a later date. However, the feature is currently under development and WhatsApp may make changes to the time limit again before making the option available in a stable release.
Furthermore, the company has also been spotted working on introducing message reactions to the platform. The feature is similar to what is already available on Instagram and Messenger. The message reactions on WhatsApp would be made available to beta users for testing and then it would make its way to the stable version of the app.
The message reactions on WhatsApp would allow users to tap on a message and leave a reaction (emoji) on it, much like on Instagram and Messenger. In case a user has an older version of WhatsApp, they will be notified to update the application from their respective app stores.
