WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will allow admins to manage group joining requests by using a feature called, Group Membership Approval. According to the details, the feature is under development for WhatsApp for Android and it will be rolled out to beta testers in the future.
WABetaInfo, a service which tracks the encrypted messenger for new features, has shared a preview of the Group Membership Approval feature ahead of its release to beta WhatsApp beta users. Group admins will be able to turn on / off the feature through the group settings.
Furthermore, there will be a new section within the group info where admins can manage all incoming requests from people that want to join the group. Once enabled, people who want to join the WhatsApp group will by using an invite link will have to wait for manual Group Membership Approval by an admin.
The development comes a few days after the Meta-owned social messaging platform expanded the groups to 512 members. The WhatsApp Group Membership Approval will now help admins make sure only relevant people join a group and not anyone that comes across the invite link.
