Meta-owned WhatsApp is reportedly working on an undo feature that will allow users to recover deleted messages. According to the details, the feature was spotted in a recent Android beta update for WhatsApp by WABetaInfo, a service that tracks the encrypted messenger for new and upcoming features.
As per WABetaInfo, WhatsApp will provide an ‘undo’ option to users to recover deleted messages. The feature is reportedly being introduced for users to accidently select the ‘delete for me’ option instead of ‘delete for every’ to allow them to correct their mistake.
Sharing a screenshot of the undo feature for WhatsApp, WABetaInfo said that “a snackbar shows up when an attempt to delete a message for you is detected: in this case, you have a few seconds to recover the message if you previously wanted to delete it for everyone.”
Based on the above screenshot, you will have a few seconds to tap the ‘undo’ option to recover your message in case you made a mistake and correct your actions if you wish. However, the feature is currently available to select users on the latest update of WhatsApp for Android beta 2.22.13.5.
If the snackbar doesn’t show up when you use “delete for me” and you’ve already installed the latest beta, it means your WhatsApp account is still not eligible to get the feature but don’t worry: as always, more activations are planned over the coming weeks.
