Xiaomi hosted an event in China today, introducing a range of products under its Redmi sub-brand. The lineup includes smartphones, a laptop, a smartwatch, TWS earphones, and more. Among the highlights are the Redmi K70 series models, featuring the K70e, K70, and K70 Pro, serving as successors to the K60 devices from the previous year. The K70 Pro stands out as the flagship model in this latest K-series generation, with minimal distinctions from the standard variant. Let’s delve into the details of both smartphones.
Specifications and Features
Design-wise, the Redmi K70 duo exhibits a fresh design language with a rectangular camera island and a robust metal frame.
The display specifications for the Redmi K70 and K70 Pro include a 6.67-inch TCL C8 OLED screen boasting a 2K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Both phones offer a peak brightness of 4,000 nits and 3840Hz PWM high-frequency dimming. Featuring a center-aligned punch-hole cutout, the smartphones support HDR10+ and Dolby Vision and are equipped with an in-screen fingerprint scanner.
On the photography front, the Redmi K70 devices showcase triple rear cameras. Both the standard and pro variants feature a 50MP 1/1.55-inch primary sensor with OIS support. The K70 includes an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 2MP macro unit, while the Pro model incorporates a 50MP telephoto unit with 2x zoom and a 12MP ultra-wide lens. Additionally, the K70 duo boasts a 16MP front-facing selfie camera.
Under the hood, the Redmi K70 Pro houses Qualcomm’s latest flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, while the K70 features a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. The Redmi K70 and K70 Pro are available in Black, Glacier Silver, Bamboo Moon Blue, and Light Purple (exclusive to the Pro model) colors. Pricing for the standard model ranges from CNY 2,499 ($352) for the 12GB + 256GB variant to CNY 3,399 ($479) for the 16GB + 1TB configuration. The K70 Pro, with options like 12GB + 256GB and 16GB + 512GB, is priced between CNY 3,299 ($465) and CNY 3,899 ($550). The top-tier 24GB + 1TB configuration carries a price tag of CNY 4,399 (~$621).
