Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has announced that the company will be offering a full refund to customers who bought the very first smartphone, the Xiaomi Mi 1, which was launched 10 years ago.
The smartphone manufacturer has announced that it had sold 184,000 units of the Xiaomi Mi 1, which had a launch price of ¥1999 (~$308). The total revenue generated from the sales of the smartphone was over ¥370 million and the money helped the company attain its present-day status as the second-largest phone brand in the world.
Xiaomi is showing appreciation to these early customers who put their trust in the brand by providing a refund for their Xiaomi Mi 1, which they purchase 10 years ago. However, the company isn’t offering a cash refund but a voucher / store credit of the same amount to make the process hassle-free.
This voucher can be used to purchase any item on the Xiaomi online store.
Xiaomi has also announced its next smartphone in the Mix Series – the Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 – which will be the brand’s first smartphone to feature an under-display camera.
