Xiaomi co-founder and CEO Lei Jun said back in June that they had no plan on coming out with another model for the Mi Max this year. This was followed up by their Redmi General Manager. Lu Weibing who confirmed that they won’t be releasing a new Mi Max series phone in response to a user when the company was asked about their next big screen phone and when it might be coming out.
The CEO of Xiaomi Lei Jun also made a Weibo post earlier regarding the matter saying that the company has:
no plans for the new Mi Max and Mi Note smartphone this year.
Jun also mentioned that the company will be focusing more on high-end flagship phones like the K20 series.
This seems to be the end of these series by Xiaomi because from what we can tell, the official statements all point to one thing and that is the company is shifting their focus away from these series especially the Mi Max smartphone lineup. Maybe that is because most phones now already have a 6 inch or bigger display to begin with so it does seem a little pointless to be focusing on the Max series anymore.
Despite having said that the company will not be releasing a Note phone, the company went ahead to launch Mi CC9 Pro which is also known as the Mi Note 10 and Mi Note Pro smartphone in the international market. However, this is still too early to tell whether this will be the end of the Note series too or not.
We will definitely hear more about the company’s plan regarding the Max and Note series in the coming future.
